CS2 Anubis Update: New Mid, A-Site Rework & Tactical Guide

The God of Death is back in the rotation, and this time, he’s brought a construction crew.

With the launch of Counter-Strike 2 Season 4, Anubis has returned to Active Duty. But if you’re dreading another season of T-sided stomps where your CT economy is strangled before round 4, take a deep breath. Valve has finally addressed the map’s biggest flaw: it was too hard to defend.

The new update introduces a series of geometry changes—mostly involving new holes (yes, really)—that drastically shift the meta in favor of the Counter-Terrorists. Here is your tactical breakdown of Anubis 2.0.

The Mid Rework: No More Suicide Missions

For the last year, holding Mid on Anubis felt like a punishment. You either gave it up immediately or died trying to peek Bridge. Valve has completely overhauled this dynamic with two key changes.

1. The Bridge Hole Has Moved

This is arguably the most impactful change of the entire update.

  • The Change: The "Murder Hole" in the Bridge wall has been relocated from the center (looking into Connector) to the side, right next to Mid Doors.
  • The Tactical Shift: Previously, fighting for Drop control meant exposing yourself to the entire T-spawn angle. Now, you can safely spot Drop and throw utility from the safety of the Doors. It turns Mid into a defensible choke point rather than a highway for the T-side.

2. Mid Doors Flipping the Script

It sounds subtle, but muscle memory is going to punish you here. The Mid Doors have been reversed.

  • Why it Matters: The old angle forced CTs to play passive or rely on a "one-and-done" spot behind the left door. The new orientation creates stronger "active" angles, allowing you to peek into Mid and retreat safely. It effectively slows down the T-side default, forcing them to use more utility just to clear the entrance.
Pro Tip: You can now flash your teammates into Water/Bridge from the new hole position without ever peeking the main angle. Start practicing your lineups now.

B-Site: The E-Box Connection

Keeping control of E-Box has always been the win condition for a B-site hold, but the E-Box player was often left on an island. Valve has thrown them a lifeline.

The New E-Box "Window"

A high opening has been added inside E-Box, creating a direct line of sight to the Back of B Site.

  • Defense: The B-Anchor can now support the E-Box player with flashes or HE grenades without leaving the site.
  • Retake: If the Ts take site control, a flanker coming from E-Box can now clear back-site angles or throw retake utility without having to swing fully into the open. It turns a solo-play position into a powerful crossfire setup.

A-Site: Retakes Are Finally Possible

If you played Anubis in Season 3, you know the drill: if the bomb goes down on A, you save. The angles were simply too difficult to clear. The Season 4 update specifically targets this frustration.

Crates to the Sky

The cover crates that sat on the ground floor of A-site have been lifted up to the Walkway.

  • The CT Buff: This gives you legitimate hard cover when fighting from Camera or Heaven. It also makes the infamous strafe-jump through the Camera smoke much more survivable.
  • The T Nerf: Terrorists can no longer hide in that deep corner on the ground level. They are forced into more open positions, making them easier to trade.

The Scaffolding Blocker

A new piece of scaffolding has been added to block the long sightline between Heaven and Camera.

  • Why: This neutralizes the AWP duel. You can now push out of Camera to retake the site without worrying about getting instantly picked by a T holding a pixel angle from Heaven.

The Verdict: Is It Enough?

Anubis has historically been the most T-sided map in the pool. These changes are not just cosmetic; they are structural buffs to the CT defense.

By moving the "Bridge Hole" and adding cover on A, Valve has given defenders the tools to actually fight for map control rather than just reacting to it. Expect to see CT rounds go up, and don't be surprised if Anubis becomes a premier pick for tactical teams this season.
